TEAM SAP - Training Ride, Sat. 3-29-08 9:30AM Conshohocken, PA

OK, it was a little breezy ( but both ways ?) cool ( 33 degrees at the start, the Schulkyll and 476 were backed-up and we had two flats before the rolling start!
So, did we hesitate?
C'mon, we are SAP!!
With Grit and awakening strength from the hibernating leg muscles, we assembled, latched onto the machines began the climb toward cycling excellence!!
Mark, John and Jim joined this ride and Ben, Brian, Bill and of course Uli, our Olympic Champion and Trainer, lead us one pedal stroke after another!
Brian Surged out on the West River Drive, taking the lead toward Logan Circle, determined to show that cycling clothing is not required for Excellence. (Brian will retire the purple Gym shorts and invest in the real gear very soon!)
Mark lead the group on the return, and befuttled all with his ability to lead out in a headwind and chat up a conversation whith John. Mark's bike was the first clue, a fine machine, with a 6 inch drop from seat to bars - one look at that setup, and I knew we had a real veteran on the squad.

Ben's spirit remained despite the challenges his machine served up.Ben can deliver! Watch him ride, and deliver partner results for our Jersey Fund!!Jim's hard charging attitude was all he needed to get up those hills!Bill, in typical style made it all look too easy, despite the fact he spent most of Friday night and Sat. AM working extra long hours on a special project.

John Lead us to Valley Forge, bearing a backpack, (John rode straight from the office), with enough gear to last nearly a week - Was there a motor in that pack John? John is a powder-keg of explosive power!!
The Team split for a few different levels of riding for the last 15 miles or so and there were a few additional moments worth discussing on the next ride!Heading back from Valley Forge, the veteran group set up a pace line, as if to say, we must finish this ride with some TRUE SPEED! My speedometer said 235 Kilometers per hour!!!! ( it is defective)...but we were moving!!

We were strong, and ULI was strongest! as Mark said, it is very clear that he is a great rider, no question. Thanks for the training tips and the tow back to Conschohocken, ULI!!

TEAM SAP covered 50++ miles on Saturday, and we began to show the grit of a great team, out to get a strong jump on the season and achieve tremendous fitness for the City to Shore Ride!

Please come join us as we gain momentum and structure, but above all, we are having a blast!!Our Health Units and spirit are gaining as our collective efforts will, in some small way, help improve the lives of others. Many thanks and we will see you next Saturday!!

Weather forecast for Saturday looks good. No ride in case of rain, snow, hail!
Once again we'll ride the flat and traffic free Schulkyll River Trail. And we'll take it easy. We may split up into two groups to meet different distance and speed preferences.

Soon we'll test the hills in Valley Forge Park (well, the hills may actually test us).

Win this incredible bike!
